Tuesday, June 28, 2022 –Mombasa County gubernatorial candidate also current Mvita Member of Parliament Abdulswamad Nassir has refuted past viral clip which showed an altercation with Suna East MP Junet Mohamed.

Addressing the matter for the first time on TV station on Monday June 27, the lawmaker said him and Junet are long time buddies since days of high school when they found themselves in the same school.

About the clip, Nassir clarified that Junet was not serious when he tapped his forehead. He described this as a common light moment which he is used to anytime he is with Junet.

“He(Junet) is someone I have lived with and even studied together for 3 years in boarding school. We have known each other for a very long time. I have to applaud the people who made this video because they picked the right angles to target me but we came to the event using the same vehicle and also left using the same car.

“What you cannot see is that Junet smiles as he does that.  He made a joke. Maybe from the angle that it was taken, it was construed to be different but the truth of the matter is that we shared the same car,” Nassir explained.

He recounted what made him angry that time saying there was a rogue group of youth who were randomly throwing bottles on the stage one which was filled with stones. It almost hit Azimio la Umoja leader.

“There was a group of youth who decided to through a bottle filled with stones to the podium and it almost hit the party leader and I evaded it. It is an unfortunate incident and I have forgiven them,” he recalled.

About Governor Ali Hassan Joho also seen in the video, Nassir said they were not exchanging any word only that Joho was cooling him down over the boys’ behavior.

When the incident happened and was captured on camera, Junet was the first one to react by taking pictures together with Nassir in his Nairobi office.

He would then state that his interaction with Nassir was blown out of proportion since there was nothing much.
