I Don’t Regret Threatening to go Back to Ichaweri – Uhuru to Ruto

Friday, July 8, 2022 –President Uhuru Kenyatta has confirmed his willingness to leave office and go home at the height of 2017/18 elections heat.

He confidently told his visitors that his decision was purely informed by his love for the nation and, further, by the fact that he has never been a power-hungry politician.

“And if they had slapped me over power, I would have given them the other cheek to slap. Yes, I wanted to go back to Ichaweri home because I couldn’t compare power with bloodshed.

“These seats we occupy (Presidency) are not more valuable than human life. I had said yes, I will not see more people lose lives because of a seat,” Uhuru stated.

And speaking on the post-poll violence of 2007/8, Uhuru said this still lingers fresh in his mind and today he would do anything to make sure the country remains in safer hands.

The president added that a true leader must be ready to compromise when difficult time strikes since remaining a hard-liner and unmoved can easily tear apart any nation.

He then pointed out that Mr. Odinga has shown and demonstrated tendencies of compromising with opponents anytime there is danger – a quality many of other leaders do not have.

The function hosted by Uhuru was dubbed ‘Non-denominational Worship and Prayer Service’.
