Tuesday, July 12, 2022 –It has been confirmed that Kenyatta University Vice Chancellor Prof Paul Wainaina has finally been relieved off his duties at the institution.
This is following a clash with the head of State who had previously expressed his displeasure with some individuals at the institution for refusing to allow the World Health Organization WHO to put up a health hub on one side of the university.
“Kenya is a respected member of the global community and we are recognized as a very strong supporter of multinational institutions. We led UN-Habitat and UNEP and that is why we want WHO here.
“You are claiming that this is your land yet this same land is owned by Kenyans. You want to hinder this project but I still have three more weeks in office, we shall deal with those individuals swiftly and effectively. I will go home with them,” Kenyatta warned.
Prof Wainaina on Tuesday July 12 told students that finally he had been asked to leave office as University Council was also dissolved.
Kenyatta recently called out the professor for being part of a cabal hell-bent on opposing the World Health Organization WHO sh 600 million project dubbed Emergency Hub which is supposed to take care of their regional operations.
Earlier on, the university management had openly protested the construction of the hub without their consent.
