Monday, July 18, 2022 –Hundreds of Agikiyu elders have joined in the clamor to demystify the wrong belief on their infamous 1969 oath.
Homenews.co,ke has learnt that the elders held a daylong meeting at Kiambaa on Sunday July 17 to break the infamous oath that had, for years, advised the Kikuyu Community never to support anybody from Oginga Odinga family.
The Kiama Kia Ma and the Council of Elders, therefore, opened floods of blessings for Mr. Odinga in their region saying he is now a fee man to mingle and seek votes from their daughters and sons.
“Among the declarations in the oath was that the presidency would not go beyond River Chania but we have seen it go beyond especially without consequences,” Kiama Kia Ma Chairperson Ngungu Gaithuma.
Additionally, the elders declared null and void the controlled interaction between Kikuyus and other communities like Luo Nyanza and Luhyas.
They used the opportunity to take issue with a section of political leaders among them Moses Kuria and Rigathi Gachagua who have been using the retrogressive oath to sell fear around their region.
“The elders ask the Agikuyu to disregard all ill-intention persons, practices, policies and politics designed to divide and deviate them from the common good,” partly read their statemnet.
This development is taking place amid reports that President Uhuru Kenyatta has organised a ‘mother of all conventions’ in his backyard of Mt Kenya. The event will take place in two weeks’ time.
The meeting, according to sources, will be the turning point of Mt Kenya politics.
