Monday, July 18, 2022 –Raila Odinga’s running mate Marttha Karua has today met with budding tennis player, Angella Okutoyi in Nairobi.
Revealing about their meeting on Monday July 18, Ms Karua praised the now African Junior Tennis Champion for working hard to become who she is despite all the odds.
“It was an honour to meet @Okutoyiangella, our #Wimbledon2022 hero and the 1st Kenyan to win a Grand Slam. I congratulated her and presented her with a copy of Prof. Wangari Maathai’s book ‘Unbowed’. We proudly root for her,” Karua said moments after their meeting.
Last week, Okutoyi 18 wrote history by becoming the first Kenyan to win a Grand Slam title after partnering Dutchwoman, Rose Marie Nijkamp to victory in the final of the junior women’s doubles at Wimbledon on Saturday 9 July 2022.
