Tuesday, July 19, 2022 –Deputy President William Ruto on Monday July 18 bought a second hand jacket for sh 20,000.
A random female trader who showed up in their Kenya Kwanza campaign trail pushed her way through upto where the DP was standing atop his car, pulled the short-sleeved green puffer jacket and asked the DP to buy.
They would then be seen negotiating for some minutes before Ruto announced that the lady wanted sh 2000; price for the jacket.
“Huyu madam anataka kuninyoa bila maji? Usinione hivo, nimehchanuka msinione hivi!” said the DP amid cheers from the crowd.
The woman trader would then ask Ruto to give sh 1,500 down from sh 2000 before Ruto laughed and handed her a whopping sh 20,000 in cash.
“Umenikata tano? Chukua elfu ishirini basi ujipange nayo,” he said before giving the wad of cash to her.
The second in command was traversing parts of Gikomba Market in Nairobi where he was seeking support from traders and residents.
Ruto and Raila have, in the recent past, made Mitumba business their political arena as each has his own understanding of the trade.
William Ruto’s wing, for example, argues that Mr. Odinga having been raised in an elite family will kill the business once he takes charge of the country and, therefore, a need for traders to stop his bid this early.
