Ruto’s Gardener Arrested After Assaulting Officer at Karen Residence

Friday, July 22, 2022 –A Gardener at Deputy President William Ruto’s private home has been arrested after brutally injuring a police officer, Corporal Timothy Mugendi Rucha, who happens to be part of those manning the compound.

The incident which took place at Karen home of the DP on Thursday July 21 left the police officer badly injured after the suspect reportedly hit him with a crude weapon on the rear head.

This is after the victim, Mr Rucha, was engaged in an altercation with the gardener, Nicholas Kibiwot Rono, who quickly went wild and ungovernable.

“The officer was taken to a hospital in Nairobi in critical condition with multiple head injuries,” an excerpt of the detectives finding read.

Until the time of running this story, the reason for their brawl was yet to be disclosed but some sources pointed at work-related differences, as some claimed it was ‘political’ seemingly because the two were not reading from the same script.

Our efforts to speak to the DP’s communications team have also not been fruitful but Homenews.co.ke has learnt that the suspect had already been dragged to court.

Government data indicates that the current deputy president is guarded by not less 257 security personnel drawn from different security units.

This information was also shared out by Interior Cabinet Secretary, Dr Fred Matiang’i.
