Friday, July 22, 2022 –Justice Jessie Lessit has ruled in favour of the complaints in the murder case in which three policemen had been accused of killing Nairobi Lawyer, Willie Kimani.
Delivering the long-awaited judgment today Friday July 22 morning, Lessit said the police officers implicated in the murder of Kimani, his client Josephat Mwendwa and taxi driver, Joseph Muiruri had been found guilty of the murder offense.
She observed that the side of the prosecution had tabled overwhelming evidence against the defendants who definitely conspired to execute the innocent victims over a court case.
“The court has taken five years to hear the case, hampered by many factors, and the most challenging being the pandemic which shut down courts for a certain period,” Judge Lessit stated.
Homenews.co.ke also learnt that one of the accused was freed after it emerged that there was no any direct link to the murder of the lawyer. He, nonetheless, has another case pending in the court.
In the judgment, Fredrick Ole Leliman, Stephen Morogo Cheburet and Sylvia Wanjiku were found guilty as Leonard Mwangi escaped the dragnet and was set free.
Furthermore, Peter Ngugi, a police informer was named as a key planner who helped the three persons to commit the chilling offense.
The four suspects who were accused of executing the three in Soweto, within Mlolongo, on the night of June 23/24 2016, were found guilty on all three counts of murder.
