Friday, August 5, 2022 –Interior Cabinet Secretary, Dr. Fred Matiang’i, has reminded Deputy President William Ruto that final State orders come from the head of State and not any other person.
Responding to calls by the DP to stop interfering with election preparedness, Matiang’i said whatever Ruto had told the country about incitement from the president and the Ministry of Interior was baseless and completely political.
In the press briefing of Friday August 5 afternoon, the CS added that Ruto was on a sympathy-seeking spree and could do anything to gain as much.
He also cautioned Ruto and his allies against profiling the Ministry of Interior ahead of Tuesday 9 election.
“These unsubstantiated allegations are consistent with frequent, unfounded, and unconscionable attacks against the government and public officers by His Excellency the Deputy President. The government is run through established and well-known structures and accountability channels.
“It is not a secret society cloaked in conspiracies and dark agendas. As a senior member of the same Government, His Excellency the Deputy President ought to know and manifest an understanding of how Government’s decisions are arrived at and executed,” Matiang’i said.
Furthermore, Matiang’i wondered why William Ruto was jumping into a conclusion on the purported hate speech leaflets in Rift Valley instead of waiting for the investigating agencies to complete their work.
He said that, that behaviour alone indicates that something is not quite right with the deputy president.
