Monday, August 8, 2022 –Bongo star Diamond Platinumz was paid a sum of sh 100,000 or sh 11.9 million to perform at the final Azimio la Umoja rally recently held at Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi.
The star who appeared on the stage for barely 8 minutes, according to our source, was supposed to be a surprise guest whose main purpose was to woo youth around the country to join Azimio coalition as Odinga makes his fifth stab at the presidency.
“Kindly this is off the record, but the conversation to have Diamond perform at Raila’s rally had been in the pipeline for three weeks. The performance was actually sponsored by a tycoon in Tanzania, I am not sure if the tycoon is a businessman or a politician but clearly it seems it’s someone well known to Azimio’s principals.
“However, what I’m sure of is that Diamond was paid $100,000 for the Kasarani performance,” a source privy to the plans disclosed to Nation.Africa.
The source added that Diamond was never in picture until three weeks ago when the contract was signed.
That the singer charges $70,000 or sh 8.2 million but because this is a political season he had to raise the rate card to $100,000.
In a report carried by the Nation. Africa on Monday August 8, as of July 2021, Platinumz was charging $70,000 for a show outside Tanzania and $50,000 for shows within Bongo.
These details were made public by his longtime manager and business associate Sallam SK who said this in his recent Wasafi TV which is also owned by Diamond.
