Wednesday, August 10, 2022 –Top presidential candidates – Raila Amolo Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto – have for the second day continued to display a tight neck to neck contest as vote counting continues countrywide.
From yesterday Tuesday August 9 to 10, Dr. Ruto of Kenya Kwanza and Raila Odinga of Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition remained locking horns as their supporters waited with bated breath.
This is happening even as Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC officials countrywide went on with their counting and tallying exercise which, for the first time in the history of elections in the country, is going on very fast and with real time updates.
Millions of Kenyans have since yesterday remained glued on their TV sets to follow the Bomas of Kenya proceedings where IEBC is making final tallies and announcements.
On Tuesday August 9, IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati assured the country that election results were being tallied at the constituency, county and national centers.
Chebukati who said IEBC will run a very competent elections exercise, also allowed every party to tally their results for transparency reasons.
