Uhuru Kenyatta’s Government Prepares to Hand Over Power

Friday, August 12, 2022 –Old government of Uhuru Kenyatta has started in earnest preparations to hand over government to the next dispensation.

The development emerged today as declaration of the next winner of the August 9 general election continues to draw nearer.

Citizen Digital today Friday August 12 reported that the Head of Public Service, Joseph Kinyua, chaired the inaugural meeting dubbed ‘the Assumption of Office of the President Committee’ in which he said thay are ready to facilitate a friction-free transition.

“In fidelity with the dictates of our Constitution, I have this morning chaired the inaugural meeting of the Assumption of the office of President Committee,” Kinyua pointed out.

Addressing at Harambee House, Mr. Kinyua added that the committee’s mandate picks up immediately a new president is announced by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC.

“The committee’s core mandate is to facilitate a smooth transition from the current administration to the incoming administration. Substantively, the mandate of the committee will be triggered once the IEBC formally announces the results of the 9th August 2022 Presidential Election and declares a President-Elect,” he said.

He was saying this while flanked by some of the members of the committee who included Attorney General Paul Kihara, Chief of Defence Forces Robert Kibochi, Inspector General of Police Hilary Mutyambai, Interior Permanent Secretary Karanja Kibicho, and Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Macharia Kamau.
