DP Ruto finally speaks about lawyer Gicheru’s return to ICC

Deputy President William Ruto all along has been aware of a scheme to drag him back to the Hague-based International Criminal Court ICC.

Lawyer Paul Gicheru.

His spokesperson David Mugonyi, while speaking to the Daily Nation last Friday November 6th, said it was not strange that this was happening.

He however noted that they were not interested in issuing any official statement on the ICC issue since nothing was new about it.

Mugonyi was peaking this even as the DP maintained a cold silence on the matter three days since his lawyer Paul Gicheru volunteered back to the Court.

“If you are interested in what is happening, just listen to the DP’s interview with NTV,” Mugonyi responded.

In this case, the DP’s spokesperson wanted Kenyans to refer back to an interview his boss did with NTV’s Ken Mijungu in January this year in which he talked about a plot to take him back to the jaws of the ICC.

“There are characters who have already sent people to Kenya to resuscitate the ICC cases against me. They will not succeed in this particular scenario. In fact, their failure will be spectacular,” Ruto answered Mijungu.

Ruto just like his boss Uhuru Kenyatta is facing criminal charges on humanity surrounding the 2007/8 post-election violence PEV.

During the same interview, he disclosed having been tipped about the happenings by the Kenya’s National Intelligence Service.

About Lawyer Paul Gicheru, who has already made his first appearance at the court, he is accused of influencing witness withdrawal against Ruto and Joshua Arap Sang.

He has since denied all the six counts before court.
