Saturday, August 27, 2022 –Deputy President’s Chief of Staff Davis Chirchir has said that he was not part of William Ruto’s presidential campaigns and never participated in the hacking of electoral system as it is being peddled out there.
Responding to John Githongo’s long investigative petition filed at the Supreme Court recently, Chirchir noted that the only person he can recognise from the long list of 56 hackers as claimed by Githongo is Dennis Itumbi with whom they have been able to interact in other areas.
Addressing this on Saturday August 27 afternoon, the computer science expert clarified that his role was completely different from what is being said out there.
“I do not know any of these listed individuals other than Dennis Itumbi, who I have had interactions with over the years. He and I did not work together in any capacity in relation to the presidential campaign either pre-election, on election date and/or during the tallying process,” Chirchir stated.
He therefore, added that never has he, at any given point, been involved in manipulating election results in favour or against anybody.
The ICT guru also reasoned that the election as was announced by Wafula Chebukati was conducted in a transparent and credible manner adding that his boss Ruto won fair and square because he was more organised from his well-equipped secretariat based in Westlands Nairobi and the field.
Chirchir, all along, has been linked to fraudulent activities surrounding past elections in which many of William Ruto-allied supporters have openly celebrated him for his ability to tilt election results through hacking.
