Saturday, September 3, 2022 –Government has started dispatching its security apparatus across the country’s hotspot zones ahead of the Supreme Court ruling.
Several security vehicles were on Saturday September 3 sent to designated hotspots in anticipation of both celebrations and protests that could be triggered by the seven-judge bench’s presidential petition ruling of Monday September 5.
In a report carried out by the Daily Nation, Police boss Hillary Mutyambai is already out of danger and has been discharged from hospital ready to take over from his assistant who had been appointed on an interim basis.
IG Mutyambai was hospitalized at Aga Khan Hospital Nairobi in the High Dependency Unit HDU after he had complained of breathing complications that had led to him collapsing at his Karen home.
In an official statement over the deployment of security officers in hotspot zones, Deputy Inspector General of Police Service, Edward Mbugua, said they will be leaving no chances of chaos.
“The Supreme Court of Kenya will make a ruling on the presidential petition on Monday, September 5.
“Depending on the ruling, we expect various reactions from the public in hotspot areas such as violence and destruction of property, demonstrations and celebrations. You are directed to prepare operation orders on how to deal with the aftermath of the court ruling,” the DIG said in a letter addressed to their regional commanders.
This order is coming barely two days after the US Embassy issued another travel advisory on Kisumu in a span of just weeks.
