Friday, September 9, 2022 –Embattled Football Kenya Federation FKF President Nick Mwendwa has returned at work following his ouster over graft accusations.
Nick was removed from office with the Jubilee regime when the Directorate of Criminal Investigation DCI office implicated him in multi-million graft deals that drained the football body almost to its knees.
Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed would then form a 15-member transition committee to replace his team on an interim basis as investigations picked up.
Investigations by police would then commence into the entire fraud bedeviling the federation as Nick struggled on to clear his name in court.
But today Friday September 9, Mwendwa told FIFA President Gianni Infantino that the DCI had withdrawn all the graft charges against him.
“Reference is made to my letter dated November 29, 2021, with regard to the interim transfer of my powers and responsibilities as FKF President to the FKF Vice President.
“In this regard, following the withdrawal of charges by the Directorate of Public Prosecution on July 8, 2022, I hereby wish to inform your good office that I have resumed my duties as the FKF president, with immediate effect, in accordance with Article 42 of the FKF constitution (2017),” his letter directed to FIFA read in part.
Now, this resumption of duty will see Nick take over again his powers from the Transition Committee led by Aaron Ringera which has been in operation for six months now.
