Sunday, September 11, 2022 –Song Vaida sometimes called Omwana Inyanya done by new artiste, Harry Richie, continues to rock airwaves across the country despite having been done in his pure Luhya dialect.
Harry Richie is an artiste who has been struggling for many years before this song brought him an unexpected breakthrough that has made him an exclusive social media sensation around the country.
According to his own narration, VAIDA is a beautiful girl married by a village boy who has left her in the village to look for something to do in the city.
Therefore, the massage in this song encourages wives to remain faithful in a long distance relationship or their marriage partners despite the loneliness and distance.
“Remember money is good but poverty is bad, one day it shall be well and we will enjoy together if you persevere until I come back home. And I will come back home with a full paper bag(Titi Kalondo),” he urges wife in the song.
The composition further encourages his wife to remain faithful and avoid temptations from men among them bodaboda riders who could be thirsting for her.
This piece, of course, remains a masterpiece work, probably the best production of this times which resonates well with every couple from any community.
Richie says he did not expect the work to perform this well because he has done so many other good songs that never saw the light of day.
The song purely done in his Kinyore subculture has not only been shared widely on social media, but his fans have come up with various dance challenges with one notable one having been done by Tik Tok star Azziad Nasenya.
The hit maker is now planning to make more recordings after witnessing this huge appreciation and gesture from his fast-growing fan base around the country.
“I have been encouraged by the support I got from fans both in Kenya and outside with many sending me messages of encouragement in the field,” Richie told Nation.Africa on Saturday September 10.
To be released in due course include his two albums Siraeli and America which are currently on final touch stages in the studio.
The musician went to Emuhondo Primary School from 1997 and later joined Ebunangwe Boys, then Kisumu Industrial training Centre and finally Kenya Polytechnic.
Bunyore is home to many other music legends like Shem Tube, Isaiah Symekher, Laban Ochuka (of Maroon Commandos fame) and the Jabali Afrika group. Others include Man Kale, Clayton Omwanga and Sila wa Sila who does same genre like his.
In another story by a local publication, Richie pointed out that, Tube – died in February last year – is famous for songs like Ägneta Mama and Mrembo Sofaa. He came from a neighbouring location. On the other hand, Symekher was best known for his gospel songs with the IFC Jericho Choir.
