Sunday, September 11, 2022 –Raila Odinga’s Azimio la Umoja leadership has defended Junet Mohamed against public lynching over alleged lost agents’ funds.
Through a Sunday September 11 detailed statement from the their secretariat Spokesman Makau Mutua, Junet was not involved in payments of anybody in Raila’s campaigns or election and that if any payment was supposed to made to anybody, the money was used as was required.
“We have seen shameful and disgusting attacks on some members of our Campaign on the question of agents. Defamatory and obviously false allegations of the misappropriation of campaign funds are flying on social media. Specifically, I have seen scurrilous attacks on Hon. Junet Mohamed accusing him of misappropriating funds meant for agents,” he stated in a lengthy letter seen by Homenews.co.ke.
He also described those spreading such propaganda as people who had been send by rival groups to mess and spew hatred within the healing Azimio coalition.
“Let me state without equivocation that Hon Mohamed was a campaign lead in the field supporting the Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga. He at no time-even once-handled funds meant for agents. Nor did Mr Mohamed have anything whatsoever to do with the management of agents,” read the statement in part.
MP Junet has been a key target from the smear campaign which linked him to the recent loss of election.
Both supporters of Raila Odinga and others from the rival camp had directed all the blame to the Suna East lawmaker who has been a close ally of Raila Odinga.
