Thursday, September 15, 2022 –New fuel prices indicate that in Nairobi County, a liter of petrol will now be retailing at sh 179.30, unlike before where it has been selling at sh 159.
In the new prices announced by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority EPRA on Wednesday September 14, diesel will also sell at an increased price of sh 165 being an increase from sh 140 per liter.
The changes also indicated that a litre of unleaded Petrol will retail at sh 179.30, with zero subsidy, this representing a hike by sh 20.18.
Homenews.co.ke has also learnt that Kerosene price has gone up by sh 20; meaning the new price will now be 147.94 per liter in Nairobi.
The new prices, according to the confirmation from the regulator, includes Value Added Tax VAT at the rate of 8 percent.
This development follows a move by the newly-elected President William Ruto’s government to remove fuel subsidies on petroleum products.
These new prices are already effective in the market.
