Antennae remained high as embattled Donald Trump reportedly continued to carry out sweeping changes at the Department of Defense by axing several senior officials.
Citizen Tv reported this unfolding disclosing how President Trump through Dpt of Defense made this replacement statement barely 24 hours after Mark Esper suffered the same fate.
The move has forced the entire Pentagon to remain on high alert with a growing sense of alarm among military and civilian officials who now read trouble ahead.
This week alone, four civilian officials had been fired as scores resigned due to frustrations in the department. All however have been replaced by Trump friends.
Interestingly, Mr. Trump has also decided to hire a controversial figure who was at the center of referring to former President Barrack Obama as a ‘terrorist’.
The publication further reported how a senior defense official told CNN late Tuesday that “it appears we are done with the beheadings for now,” referring to the wave of ousted civilian leaders, including Mr. Esper.
Trump’s firing spree may trigger unrest among Americans as his 76 days in office continues to run out very fast.
It will then be interesting to see how he is going to handle the 2020 presidential winner Joe Biden who is also upbeat of assuming office in January when he is finally sworn in.
Pundits now point at a chaotic transition period that might or might not plunge the once super power nation into turmoil.
This will be the first time US will be facing this kind of a situation since its inception as the current level of uncertainty continues to worry.
Trump, is his series of tweets, has maintained that there was ‘fraud’ in the election to tame his administration something he has made clear that he is going to fight tooth and nail in court.
He has already hired top lawyers from New York City who are tasked to ensure Biden’s win is overturned before his swearing in day scheduled January 2021.
This therefore puts both Donald Trump and Joe Biden between a rock and hard place.
