Sunday, October 2, 2022 -Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party politicians snubbed President William Ruto’s Sunday visit in Homa Bay citing various reasons.

Speaking shortly after Ruto and his convoy arrived in the area for a church service held at AIC Church today Sunday October 2, Governor Gladys Wanga mentioned that she could not join them since she had left for an important official duty miles away in Mombasa.

“I wish to extend a warm welcome to the President on behalf of the great people of Homa Bay and request him to feel at home.

“I am however out of the county on official duty and will therefore be unable to join HE for the church service and have communicated the same to His Excellency,” she said.

Furthermore, Homa Bay Town Member of Parliament MP Peter Opondo Kaluma also gave an excuse that he had not been informed of the visit by the head of State and asked those who handle Statehouse itinerary to be punctual in their future communications so that such scenarios do not arise again.

“Just got information that President @WilliamsRuto will be in Homa Bay today. Welcome. I’m unable to be with you due to lack of means. Let there be better coordination in future so that the MP whose Constituency you’re visiting has information and is available to receive you,” he claimed.

Ruto and a section of other Kenya Kwanza leaders arrived in Homa Bay County on his first trip to Nyanza since defeating the region’s kingpin Raila Amolo Odinga in the August 9 polls.

He was accompanied by CS Eliud Owalo, MP Ndindi Nyoro, Julius Jwan, Dr Raymond Omolo, David Ochieng, ex-Governor Zachary Obado, Jack Ranguma, Dalmas Otieno, Ken Obura, Fred Outa, Martin Ogindo among other leaders.

The new president has been on record promising not to exclude Odinga’s strongholds from his development plans.

And speaking on Thursday during his thanks giving function held at Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi, ODM Party leader still maintained that he was robbed of his victory for the fifth time.

He added that he had to only accept the Supreme Court verdict to evade plunging the country into another post poll chaos.
