Friday, November 4, 2022 –New Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba has reinstated the expelled Football Kenya Federation FKF National Executive Committee and its secretariat.

The announcement was made today Friday November 4 following a successful Thursday meeting that took place in Nairobi’s Kenya National Library Services office.

FKF Boss Nick Mwendwa at their headquarters on September 20, 2022.

To defend this move, Mr. Namwamba stated that demands by World’s football governing body FIFA required the Nick Mwendwa office back on duty for football to resume normalcy.

“Met the Kenya Football Federation FKF National Executive Committee in the continuing consultations to return Kenyan football to normalcy.

“The government is committed to fulfilling the conditions set by Fifa so that the penalty is removed. Whereas we need our football to be restored, we do not turn a blind eye to integrity, the rule of law and good governance. In my meeting with the suspended NEC, I have been open with them about these issues,” Namwamba told the media.

He went ahead to direct the federation to make a quick official communication to FIFA on the new direction Kenya had taken.

“FKF will communicate to Fifa regarding the understanding between them and the government on conditions that we have set. They have been put down by FKF and will be conveyed to Fifa shortly,” added Namwamba.

FKF President Nick Mwendwa suspended.

It however emerged that, part of the agreement between the government and FKF is that Mr. Mwendwa remains inactive in sports matters until he clears pending court cases hanging on his neck.
