Saturday, November 19, 2022 –Nairobi County Senator, Edwin Sifuna, has responded to Mt Kenya leaders in Jubilee Party who have threatened to de-link themselves from Azimio La Umoja.
In a statement he released on Saturday November 19 afternoon, Sifuna stated that Jubilee Party over-promised Raila but terribly failed to deliver despite issuing tough demands which Odinga had to first meet before securing their support.
“True! Baba got 490k more votes in Mt. Kenya than 2017. BUT the PROMISE was 40% or 2.4m votes from the mountain.
“Jubilee overpromised and underdelivered whilst also extracting serious concessions including a Mt Kenya running mate, Nairobi Governor and over 50% of Govt. Msitubebe,” he mentioned.
He was saying this in response to a section of Uhuru allies who worked with Raila Odinga in their Azimio la Umoja coalition in the last campaign and who now say he(Raila) had outlived his usefulness in their region.
Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni in his statement, noted that Raila’s debt with Mt Kenya people was no more since he had been voted with a lager number of people he had never managed before.
He added that time to move on with life after election was now and that Odinga and his friend Uhuru Kenyatta must accept that their political business had come to a sudden stop.
On his part, former Nyeri MP, Ngunjiri Wambugu, noted that today they nolonger recognize Uhuru Kenyatta and that Rigathi Gachagua is their regional kingpin going forward.
“DP Gachagua is our current leader in Mt Kenya. We can meet have tea and talk about issue affecting our country and he will listen and act. He is the leader holding the highest position in the country,” Wambugu argued.
This is happening even as President Uhuru Kenyatta continues with his peace mediation role in DRC Congo.
