Tuesday, November 22, 2022 –Embattled Meru County Governor Kawira Mwangaza may be impeached very soon if the motion already presented before the area County Assembly sails through smoothly.
A local MCA has forwarded a petition seeking to remove the first female governor from office citing several irregularities.
The Minority Chief Whip also Abogeta West MCA, Dennis Kiogora, has prepared the paper listing a number of issues that they have found weird with the leadership of Governor Mwangaza.
He is citing an open breach of leadership and integrity act of Section 10 of the Constitution by the current governor.
He is also accusing the governor of gross misconduct and abuse of office by engaging in so many discreditable acts that seem very toxic in a working environment.
“The Governor has engaged in multiple discreditable acts that severally and collectively amount to gross violation of the Constitution, gross violation of various national and county laws, abuse of office, and gross misconduct,” partly reads the petition.
Th detailed petition indicates that the governor had subjected residents of Meru County to public ridicule and disrepute never witnessed before.
“The office of the Governor, the Assembly and its leadership and the people of Meru County to, embarrassment, ridicule and disrepute,” he added.
He says she cannot be trusted anymore to run the county government whose bars had been set too high by the two previous regimes of Peter Munya and successor Kiraitu Murungi.
Therefore, her prolonged stay in public office will completely cripple services and development for the electorates.
Homenews.co.ke has learnt that a total of 68 Members of County Assembly have since annexed the impeachment motion.
