Tuesday, December 6, 2022 –Members of Meru County Assembly have rejected President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua’s request to let be Governor Kawira Mwangaza.

In a fresh bid to impeach the Meru County CEO, the MCAs have again initiated another motion seeking to oust her from office because of her unbecoming conduct.

Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza and husband Mr. Murega Baichu

They are accusing Kawira of gross misconduct, irregular appointments, nepotism and unlawful sacking of county officials.

They are also accusing her of appointing her husband, Mr. Murega Baichu, to be the chairman of Meru Youth Service MYS.

The MCAs wondered where she got the mandate to create the office for his husband before conducting a competitive hiring exercise.

They are seeking to know and understand how that newly-created office will be funded and for what reason or value is it.

The Ward leaders also have an issue with Baichu’s elevation to the Meru Hustlers Ambassadorial role which is not in the Constitution.

In a nutshell, the impeachment motion is describing Mwangaza’s actions as tantamount to violation of County Governments Act and other clauses in regard to the appointment of county officials.
