Wednesday, December 7, 2022 –Troubles have started facing Raila Odinga’s last born daughter after she snubbed President William Ruto’s recent meeting with EALA MPs.
Manyatta Member of Parliament, Gitonga Mukunji, today Wednesday December 7, told the media that Ms Winnie’s disrespect to the President will soon cost her the EALA job.
He described the recent meeting which was organized by President William Ruto as very critical preparation for the noble East African role in Arusha.
Gitonga added that, during the meeting, Ruto took the MPs through a series of plans and briefed them on Kenya’s agenda at the regional assembly.
“It is very clear that Winnie Odinga was voted in by the opposition and the government side. We will impeach her for not appearing for official functions of EALA.
“The elected MPs met the President and the CS and they were there to get the mandate of our standing as a member State,” he stated.
He, therefore, wants Winnie urgently summonsed so that she can state why she decided to abdicate her duty to listen to the head of the State in the Statehouse meeting of Monday December 5.
“We will call her to explain why she did not attend the meeting. If she was preparing for the Kamukunji meeting then she should leave and do that,’ he expressed.
But defending self a day earlier, Winnie told the media that it was wrong to build a mountain out of an anthill.
She added that he meeting was on a short notice making it hard for her to change her day’s schedule.
“I think people are making a storm out of a teacup. The meeting was at short notice and I was unavailable,” she stated.
According to EALA regulations, a seat for a member can be declared vacant if relevant authorities among member States such as Parliament make an official communicate to the Assembly.
