Friday, December 9, 2022 –Chief Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has today been conferred with an honorary degree of humane Letters in Peace and Sustainable Development at the Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology MMUST.
The conferment exercise – 18th Graduation Ceremony for the 2022/2023 academic session – took place at Masinde Muliro University MMUST Graduation Square on Friday December 9 morning.
A statement from the University described Mr. Mudavadi as a public servant, trailblazer, diplomatic and peace maker, who is famously known as “a safe pair of hands”.
The Western region kingpin is credited with saving the country from runaway inflation and stabilizing the economy of the country in the early 1990s.
Addressing the audience following the honour, the chief CS noted that he was happy to be recognized at the Western Kenya-based institution whose name also represents one of the icons of the region – the late Masinde Muliro.
“It is such a significant coincidence that the honour bestowed upon me is from MMUST, a university named after one of the great nationalists of this country, the late honourable Masinde Muliro,” Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi stated.
On his part, President William Ruto gave hopes to the thousands of graduates whom he urged to utilize the knowledge they had gathered from their studies to make their families proud.
“The future and its promise awaits you. You have been tried and tested and found ready to go forth. I encourage each and everyone of you and I want you to feel appreciated,” President Ruto to graduates.
Present in the event was COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli and Sports and Culture Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba. Also present was Education Cabinet Secretary, Mr. Ezekiel Mochogu.
