Tuesday, December 13, 2022 –A section of youth who attended Jamhuri Day event at Nyayo Stadium on Monday December 12, were not happy when they reportedly struggled to access President’s Arizona scholarship portal.
Sources have reported to Homenews.co.ke that there was witnessed some confusion as well as anxiety when a majority of the attendants failed to access the promised free scholarships as had been announced by the head of the State.
President Ruto has personally offered a sixteen-module course so as to suit entrepreneurs in digital world; being part of his efforts in fighting joblessness through innovation.
While addressing at the Stadium, Ruto unveiled the programme by asking those willing to start the course to scan a quick-response code so that to access the offer.
It saw hundreds scramble for the positions but some sections would give up along the way saying they did not have smartphones to access the online offers.
“It wasn’t that easy. I would love to know where these scholarships are being accessed, we heard it on television but I have not seen it,” a disgruntled Kenyan stated.
President Ruto had urged those willing to start the course on scholarship terms to attend the 59 Jamhuri Day event at Nyayo Stadium, Nairobi.
Therefore, to keep his word, every interested Kenyan who had attended the function received free access to a 16-unit course valued at sh 100,000.
Before attending the actual event at Nyayo Stadium, the president had held meetings with leaders from various global tech companies at Statehouse, Nairobi, before attending the Jamhuri Tech and Innovation Summit at the Kenyatta International Conference Center KICC
