Monday, December 19, 2022 –Standard Group Chief of Staff, Laban Onserio Cliff, has been arrested with a dangerous explosive.
Cliff was driving with the explosive in his car and, at some point, threatened to use it on guys he had fallen out with last Sunday December 18.
According to Nairobi-based Anti-terror Police Unit ATPU, this life-threatening drama took place at a city church basement.
The details about this scene came to the play when he was arraigned at the Kahawa Courts on Monday December 19.
“The respondent was arrested by a multi-agency team who responded at the scene after receiving information that there was a terror threat,” a report read.
Detectives are now accusing Mr. Cliff of failure to declare to the security guards that he was carrying the flash-bang training system.
He was also supposed to produce a certificate licensing him to possess such a grenade and, further, could not detail any reason why he was walking around with it.
“He had not made a declaration to the security guards that he was in possession of the Flashbang training system grenade,” the report detailed.
It is reported by the DCI that the journalist illegally acquired the grenade in the year 2021. He bought it through the back door from a British national who is currently working with a local airline in Kenya.
Furthermore, he has more flash-bang grenades and which the investigating agencies have asked for more time to dig deeper and prepare their comprehensive conclusion against him.
