Wednesday, January 11, 2023 –Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has wondered how Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga was going to run the country at that age.
Throwing a jibe at Mr. Odinga, the DP who was addressing Administration Police Passing out Parade held in Embakasi, Nairobi County on Wednesday January 11 said Ruto’s energy talks loudly and signifies what the country will achieve in few days to come.
“I watched you (Pres. Ruto) inspect the passing-out parade in quick time and with energy. My mind was just wondering, what would have been the future of our police and military parades if things had gone the other way?” he quipped.
On his part, President William Ruto promised to revive police welfare and to make it a competitive career going forward.
“In regards to the terms of employment, conditions of service and welfare of police officers, GOK has undertaken a number of measures.
“We have liberated the police service from political and bureaucratic control,” President Ruto addressed.
Ruto and Gachagua of United Democratic Alliance UDA Party rose to power through the Hustler nation gospel beating Raila Odinga with nearly 200,000 votes.
Raila together with his running mate Martha Karua would quickly disagree with the outcome and filed a case at the Supreme Court where they again lost and Ruto was declared the President-elect.
