Friday, February 3, 2023 –Inspector General of Police IG Japhet Koome has finally confirmed scaling down of retired President Uhuru Kenyatta’s security detail.
In a video clip seen by Homenews.co.ke writer on Friday February 3, IG Koome – looking unmoved by increasing public outrage – noted that Uhuru had some officers of higher rank who have been recalled for other duties; according to the law.
“It is true. Presidential Escort Commander with Uhuru is an assistant to inspector general. I have recalled that officer to be given responsibilities commensurate with his rank. Whatever that has been done is in good faith. Ours is to ensure we are fair to all citizens. Low or high,” he mentioned to Citizen Tv.
He, therefore, clarified that lower rank officers can remain with the deputy president and retired head of State.
“Others protecting deputy president, retired president and other state officers must be of lower rank,” Koome added.
And in another hard-hitting statement from William Ruto’s close ally, Senator Samson Cherargei, Uhuru had over 120 GSU elite officers manning him 24 hours.
Additionally, the ex-head of State had securities deployed to his family members, homes, and properties what must be corrected now that he is nolonger the president.
“But under PRESIDENTIAL RETIREMENTS BENEFITS ACT 11 0f 2003(2012), he entitled to only 6 police officers; so nothing strange about downscaling the security. Its the LAW!” Cherargei argued.
His sentiments were corroborated by those of Kasarani Member of Parliament MP Ronald Karauri.
“The law is very clear’.. ‘We are public servants…’ This guy(Matiang’i) and his all-powerful cronies weaponized state agencies because of greed and lust. I am patiently waiting to see what the universe has in store for them, karma is real,” Capt Ronald Karauri posted.
President William Ruto’s government and the former first family seem to be in a supremacy war which started last week with government promising to make sure the Kenyatta family pays outstanding taxes amounting in billions.
