Jalang’o, 8 MPs From Nyanza Meet Ruto at the Statehouse

Tuesday, February 7, 2023 –Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party continues to face headwinds even as their political party leader Raila Odinga promises to stage countrywide anti-government rallies to force Ruto out of office.

Latest reports indicate that a number of ODM Party elected legislators are already warming up towards President William Ruto.

Some eight MPs from ODM Party and, mostly from Nyanza Region, together with one independent lawmaker, today Tuesday February 7, made their way to the Statehouse where they are reported to have finally decided to work with the government of the day.

It is also claimed that the MPs assured the president that they will nolonger follow their party leader to his rallies and protests.

Sharing his visit to the Statehouse on Tuesday February 7 noon, Lang’ata area MP Felix Odiwuor aka Jalang’o confirmed having had breakfast with the president.

“Today we had breakfast with the president, I followed up on the Start date of the construction of affordable housing in Highrise ward and the completion of the Langata TVET.

“The project is on and the contractor is on ground, an extra 50Million has been located for the completion,” Jalang’o wrote.

Others who met with the president at the Statehouse included Mark Nyamita (Uriri), Tom Ojienda (Kisumu), Shakeel Shabir (Independent – Kisumu Town East), and Caroli Omondi (Suba South).

Furthermore, Elisha Odhiambo (Gem), Gideon Ochanda (Bondo) and some other two more also shared a cup of tea with the head of the State.

ODM Director of Communications Philip Etale, while reacting to the news, said as a party they are not privy to what happened at the Statehouse.

He added that if anybody is not comfortable staying in their party which they used to win office, they should choose to quit as law stipulates.

Etale further said that in ODM Party, there is still one command center and any sideshows may be punishable.

“If the reports are true as alleged, let their conscience guide them. They were elected on Azimio tickets and should receive instructions from the coalition.

“If they believe that ODM is not sufficient for them, they should quit and join the United Democratic Alliance (UDA),” he stated.

He however clarified that, this is not the point at which to commence disciplinary action unless the rumour is officially confirmed to be factual.
