Thursday, February 16, 2023 –Employment Labour and Relations Court ELRC has cleared President William Ruto to go ahead with appointing Chief Cabinet Secretaries CASs in his Cabinet.
On Thursday February 16, the Labour court sitting in Nairobi ruled that the Public Service Commission PSC was in order to initiate the recruitment of the officers.
Making this confirmation on Thursday morning, the petitioner – Law Society of Kenya (LSK) – President Eric Theuri confirmed that the court had actually dismissed the petition as null and void.
“ELRC court delivers judgment on the CAS case and finds that the PSC followed the correct procedure in setting up the office. The petition by the Law Society of Kenya is dismissed,” read the statement from Theuri.
Ruto had been stopped from appointing CASs after ELRC argued, in its ruling sometimes back, that this can only happen when the petition is concluded.
Justice Monicah Mbaru would then issue temporary orders halting the process that could have seen the president complete naming his Cabinet.
Today’s ruling now means Ruto will go on with rewarding his political loyalists as he has been doing before.
