Thursday, February 16, 2023 –Nairobi-based Lawyer Danstan Omari is the man to watch when it comes to handling all high-profile cases affecting top politicians and businessmen.
Of recent, Omari has been appearing for public figures including the ongoing case pitting government against former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i.
Matiang’i’s home was allegedly raided by police men a week ago and the lawyer who was first to arrive at the scene and address the public was Danstan Omari.
He would be seen taking a central role in speaking on behalf of the former powerful state official Dr. Matiang’i.
He went ahead and took the case to court where he managed to secure for him an anticipatory bail stopping the State from attempting to invade his home or arrest him again.
According to his lawyer Omari, Matiang’i was granted a personal bond of sh 200,000 and stopped police from arresting him.
“The Applicant is aware that his woes got worse when he gave a speech at the home of the late Prof Magoha where he shared the lessons on public service that he had learnt from the deceased.
“His security was withdrawn the next day and the impending arrest is part of the scheme to harass and silence him forever,” read court documents.
Omari viciously defended Matiang’i and even during the second raid where the DCI sleuths forcefully broke into his Karen home, Omari remained steadfast in defending his client.
“Danstan Omari is MP David Pkosing’s lead lawyer. The man is handling all cases available in the country!
“Lawyer Dastan Omari is handling all high-profile cases in the country. Currently he’s at DCI Headquarters representing Pkosing,” Twitter user commented on Thursday February 16.
On both cases of Matiang’i and Pkosing(Pokot South), Omari managed to secure their freedom from the jaws of security agencies.
In one of his past interviews, Omari revealed that he started his law studies at the age of 40 after cutting short his teaching studies with a local college.
In an article published by Who Owns Kenya on November 18 2021, the prominent lawyer attended Nyamira Primary School managing to score 19 out of 36 points in the national examination. “Some of my classmates, you can see them all over, having made it in life. They include Interior CS Fred Matiang’i, who was my classmate in secondary and university, Governor Sospeter Ojaamong, political analyst Herman Manyora and Planning PS Saitoti Torome,” the lawyer told the Star.
Later in 1990, he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Education.
In 2008, he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in law and in 2009 enrolled in Kenya School of Law. After six months, he enrolled for a Master of Law degree at the University of Nairobi and that is how he ended up practicing law, commercially.
