Wednesday, February 22, 2023 -Opposition leader Raila Odinga has asked President William Ruto to reduce the cost of living in the country within the next 14 days.
Odinga who was speaking at Jevanjee Gardens during their first opposition prayer meeting held on Wednesday February 22 said the country will pour to the streets in demand of better and affordable living standards.
This, Raila assured, will pick on in two weeks time and that the mass action will be going on throughout for as long as the cost of basic commodities are still high.
“If these demands are not heeded within fourteen days, we shall lead Kenyans to massive mass action across the country to take their power back and restore sanity,” a charged up Raila said.
The former premier also said it was foolish and inhumane to stop providing subsidies for food and education in the midst of biting drought.
The Azimio leader asked that the subsidy programme on all basic commodities be reinstated as well as taxes cut down.
Again, Odinga said the quest for opening Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC servers is still on.
This will bring to an end the unending electoral fraud and deceit.
“Servers must be opened and audited under the auspices of a reputable firm or organization failure to which we shall lead people to restore their authority and voice.
“The ongoing process of reconstituting IEBC must stop immediately. A bipartisan task force must be put in place to restructure IEBC in a manner that ends its monolithic operations,” added the hard-hitting ODM leader.
Raila is going on with the anti-government rallies meant to push Ruto’s administration to heed to his leadership demands following the controversial presidential election results which he dennounced.
