Thursday, February 23, 2023 -Opposition boss Raila Odinga has welcomed move by African Union AU to relieve him his role as AU special envoy Unfrastructure.
Revealing the intrigues behind his ouster, Odinga who has been the High Representative for Infrastructure Development in Africa confirmed that his term had ended.
The Azimio la Umoja leader further intimated that he had written to AU Commission Chair Moussa Faki expressing concerns about his continued stay in office.
“I indicated the challenges to my continued availability for the role of AU High Representative for Infrastructure Development in Africa.
“In that regard, I welcome your quick action that will free me to pursue other pressing and urgent matters,” the statement read in part.
Mr. Odinga joined AU leadership after the 2017 election.
It was reported that Uhuru Kenyatta was part of the deal following their historic March Handshake.
