Saturday, February 25, 2023 –Newly-formed Office of the Spouse of the Prime Cabinet Secretary has been tasked with looking into four areas of welfare.
Chief Cabinet Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi launched the office similar to that held by the Deputy President’s wife on Friday, February 24.
The Government announced that Tessie Musalia’s office will focus on four key roles- among them looking into vulnerable children and families across the country.
She will also be looking into the challenges facing those living with disabilities as well as the elderly in the society.
“The office is committed to promoting the well-being of Kenyan citizens by enhancing health with an emphasis on maternal and child healthcare.
“Also, promote the protection of the environment and improvement of sanitation,” Musavadi said while unveiling the office.
This newly-created office will be complementing the roles of various initiatives including some activities in the first and second lady’s offices.
“The Office of the Spouse to the Prime Cabinet Secretary was established by the Government to complement the work being done by the Office of the First Lady and the Office of the Spouse to the Deputy President,” read the statement in part.
First Lady Rachel Ruto, since Kenya Kwanza took charge seven months ago, has been focusing on the economic empowerment of women; while Rigathi’s wife, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, has been focusing on issues affecting the boy child.
Tessie Musalia has been running the Musalia Mudavadi Foundation, which has been working with the counties to help vulnerable families facing hunger.
More than 10,000 families have reportedly benefited from her foundation, countrywide. Creation of the office will now help expand her reach.
