Monday, March 27, 2023 – Azimio la Umoja top brass led by Martha Karua has hinted at a possible arrest of their ring leader, Raila Odinga, tonight.
Ms Karua, who was addressing crowds in Kibra during the second phase of anti-government protests, claimed that there is a plot to arrest Mr. Raila Odinga any time today Monday.
She announced that plans are in top gear to throw the opposition leader behind bars because the State thinks they are interfering with the economy of the country at the time calm is direly needed.
She, therefore, urged their supporters countrywide to remain vigilant so that, incase such a thing takes place, they should come out in droves and rescue their leader from the jaws of the police.
“They want to arrest our captain Raila today but let us be ready to face off with them just incase they attempt to cross that line,” she charged.
On his part, Mr. Odinga accused Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of hiring goons to intrude into their personal properties and businesses.
He mentioned his gas plant in Industrial area – EA Spectre International – as well as Kenyatta’s private farm dubbed Northlands Farm in Ruiru area.
“They have sent thugs into Uhuru Kenyatta’s farm to destroy and steal private property. Gachagua has also send goons into my private business in Industrial area.
“Cowards don’t know that whatever we are doing is Constitutional and not personal war the way they want it to look,” Raila declared.
The Azimio la Umoja demonstrations, today Monday March 27, comprised Raila, Karua, Kalonzo Musyoka, Raila’s daughter Winnie Odinga as well as former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya.
The group addressed supporters in Kawangware, before heading to Kibra area’s like Woodley; with attempts to break into the Central Business District CBD hitting a wall as police beefed up with General Service Unit GSU officers had barricaded any available entry into the town – Ngong Road in particular.
