Tuesday, March 28, 2023 –The Inspector General of Police, Japhet Koome, now says his police acted swiftly and deligently during the Monday March 27 anti-State skirmishes.

Speaking on Tuesday, March 28, the police boss also defended the police for reducing damage on Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Northland farm, as well as is Raila’s gas plant in Industrial Area Nairobiwhere goons had invaded.

He also took issue with the rioters whom he claimed had injured a number of police officers during the Monday’s protests.

“We also received reports of the invasion and destruction of a farm in Kiambu County. Relatedly, we received reports of an invasion of a private company within the Embakasi area in Nairobi, to which Our Officers responded swiftly and prevented further crimes,” Koome stated, despite reports indicating that police took hours to respond to the raids.

In the videos which went round, rowdy youth were seen scaling the security fences, cutting down trees, stealing and slaughtering sheep at Uhuru Kenyatta’s Ruiru farm.

“Our investigation into the destruction and injuries caused has begun, and those found culpable shall face the law. We appeal to the public to adhere to the rule of law when exercising their Constitutional rights to picket, petition or demonstrate,” IG Koome promised.

The police boss seized the opportunity to state that two police vans were torched during the protest, mainly affecting Kibra and Kawangware estates.

But in their stock-taking press briefing held in Nairobi on Tuesday March 28, Raila has hit out at the regime, saying, despite his supporters bending over to ensure that the protests are conducted strictly within the law, the State, under the direction of President Ruto and his deputy Gachagua, did everything to ensure this degenerated into mayhem and deaths.
