Wednesday, March 29, 2023 – Today Wednesday March 29 , United States of America US Delaware Senator Christopher Andrew Coons met with both Raila Odinga and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua in Nairobi
Coons together with his delegation met Mr. Odinga and later with the deputy president to discuss developments in the country.
Making the update through an official statement, the opposition leader, Raila Odinga, revealed they had a fantastic time together discussing matters Constitution.
“Had a great meeting this evening with US Senator Chris Coons and his delegation to discuss developments in our country.
“We had a fruitful discussion on the importance of upholding the constitution and the rule of law, and agreed to keep the channels of communication open,” Raila said.
A source leaked to this writer that the meeting on both sides focused on the need for the leaders to respect the rule of law while executing their political and governance mandate.
“Both sides agreed on the need to respect the Constitution and the rule of law as well as keeping communication channels open on both ends,” the source claimed.
On his part, Mr Gachagua confirmed having held the meeting with the top US official and that their discussion centered on bilateral ties.
“This morning, I hosted a delegation from the USA, led by Senator for Delaware, Christopher Andrew Coons for consultations towards strengthening ties between the two nations, especially in trade, security, democracy, among other key issues of mutual interest,” he disclosed.
The Delaware Senator, Chris Coons, played a key role in mediating the controversial Uhuru-Raila Odinga’s 2018 Handshake.
