Government Rattled by Raila’s Late Demands on Negotiations

Tuesday, April 4, 2023 –United Democratic Alliance UDA Party-allied politicians have expressed their reservations against new proposals from the opposition side.

Just after Raila Odinga, flanked by his allies among them Martha Karua and Kalonzo Musyoka called for a more structured and high-level negotiation like the one of 2008, government side led by Majority leader Kimani Ichung’awh have petitioned their boss to be cautious of Raila’s political advances.

“So, it is as we said, @RailaOdinga hoped to instigate Post-election Violence, use the ANARCHY & BLOODSHED to ride on to yet another Handshake regime? We said; the looting, rape, arson, land invasions and killings were all planned with a motive. Mzee & your Sponsor, FORGET another Handshake!” he asserted in response to Odinga’s statement.

Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale while commenting on the same, argued that Odinga was punching above his weight and that it will be a herculean task for him to get what he thinks he can get ‘through blackmail, threats and intimidation’.

“Raila is an exposed man desperate for power at whatever cost. How does he equate the current situation to the 2007/08 period and ask for power-sharing under a National Accord arrangement?

“Your demos have nothing to do with the cost of living but a means to bulldoze your way to power. Trust me you will not succeed,” CS Duale responded.

Moreover, Kimilili Member of Parliament MP Didmas Barasa, wondered how and why Raila was running away from an elected Parliamentary committee to his own road side groupings.

“Odinga must either be suffering from old age, selective amnesia, or both. When you are invited for dialogue, you do not set your own conditions.

“I beg my boss William Ruto to appoint me his Interior CS for only two months so that I can bring this nonsense to a complete stop,” Barasa firmly threatened.

Furthermore, Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei argued that the new demands issued by Odinga now confirms their fear that Odinga’s main reason to protest was to get power through the back door.
