DP Ruto and team to boycott Referendum[Video]

Deputy President William Ruto is now distancing himself from any political duel over the building Bridges Initiative BBI.

Speaking at Bishop Margret Wanjiru’s Jesus is Alive Ministry Church over the weekend, Ruto who was presiding over a fundraiser detailed that he would not be interested in political rivalries over an important process like changing the Constitution.

“From us, we are not interested in a contest, they have invited us into a contest, they are daring us into a contest, they are threatening us with a contest. We are telling them, ‘No, thank you.

“There are things that are important to the people of Kenya at this point in time, one of them is not a contest about our Constitution. It is not important for us,” the DP said.

He was saying this despite the BBI Signature Book having already attracted over 5 million signatures from across the country, setting stage for verification process and subsequent stages upto the Referendum.

On Sunday December 6th, Ruto declared that he will not accept a forced political contest with President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga, insisting it’s still possible to bridge the divide.

His top allies who had accompanied him – Mp Moses Kuria, Senator Susan Kihika – asked the Investigating agencies to scrutinize the authenticity of the collected 5.2 million signatures saying most of them were forgeries.

Ruto while addressing the congregants demanded that two issues be addressed before the referendum, among them the multiple choice way of voting and the election of Woman Representatives to the National Assembly.

“There are only two things and it can’t take a month or a week. It’s something we can sort out in a day. Just two issues,” Ruto said.

According to insiders, DP Ruto is fearing to stage an anti-BBI campaign against his boss Uhuru Kenyatta because this may be the worst mistake at this moment.

His main focus sems to be the 2022 campaigns which he thinks cannot be interfered with by early BBI politics which seems to be looking so bad on his side. Video/Courtesy-
