Wednesday, May 3, 2023 –An official autopsy report now indicates that, for every 30 bodies found in Shakahola Forest, four were physically murdered.
The Tuesday May 2 post mortem medical examination established that the four cases of 30 were forced to die through strangulation, smothering and blunt object trauma.
In the findings as quoted by various media outlets, it was also recorded that the rest of the deaths accept only six cases died of starvation to death.
“Eight of them were male and 22 were female. We did autopsies of 15 adults and 9 children. There were six persons who we weren’t able to determine for certain whether they were adults or not because of the level of decomposition,” Dr. Johansen Oduor said.
The Chief Government Pathologist Dr. Oduor also found out that one of them, a child, was hit on the head with a blunt object, another one was strangled, while two adults died of Asphyxia which is a condition arising when the body is deprived of oxygen, causing unconsciousness or death from suffocation.
“We could clearly see rope marks on the neck of one of them. We have also recorded some broken bones in the neck. We are sure that this person, a child, was strangled to death.
“The results also revealed that two of the victims were smothered to death,” he recorded.
As of now, several activists as well as Human Rights organisationa have taken issue with the authorities after they were excluded from the autopsy exercise even as pathologist continues to indicate that their presence was not necessary.
Deoxyribonucleic Acid DNA test will also be collected from 28 other families whose kin are still missing.
