Thursday, May 4, 2023 – Ogopa Djs superstar rapper Colonel Mustafa, real name Daudi Mustapha, is now a mere worker at mujengo sites in Nairobi.
His worrying video started doing rounds on various media platforms on Thursday May 4 showing the former Ogopa Djs rapper busy carrying stones, and ballast at a construction site, somewhere.
The clip has since left his fans in Kenya worried on what could have become of the music icon who, the other day, was household name.
The once highflying singer who bagged several awards both as a group and solo artist is now a shadow of his former self. Must have fallen on hard times!
Mustafa, who has been away from the gossip mill for some time, was on Thursday videotaped carrying construction bricks at an undisclosed construction site.
In the video seen by Homenews.co.ke, he can be seen donning a faded blue t-shirt and rough pants, he appeared disheveled but at the same time cheerful as he passed on a brick to a colleague at the site.
It is remembered that in July last year, the legendary rapper made his last entertainment remark claiming that all was not well, before he vanished.
The ‘Katika’ hitmaker revealed that he had battled too much depression for at least three years after leaving the popular reality Tv show – Nairobi Diaries.
“Things have been a bit tough, which forced me to disappear a little from social media as things were not good. It’s been five years since I released music. Now I am back. I had depression at some point, like two or three years after I left Nairobi Diaries and things went bad,” he said.
He was born in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania to a Kenyan dad and a Tanzanian mum.
Their very first song Monalisa as Deux Vultures with talented rapper Nasty Thomas became a massive hit in the early 2000s.
The dynamic duo also recorded other hit songs like Katika, Kinyaunyau, Mfupi, Teremka, Adhiambo, Sakata Rhuba, Mahewa among many others in their now-defunct Deux Vultures music group.
Mustafa is also more widely known for his stint at the Reality Show ‘Nairobi Diaries’ where fans got a glimpse into the thrill-packed life of the Ladies Man who went on to dub himself ‘Loboko’ meaning the ladies’ favourite.
His ex-Ogopa Dj partner Nasty Thomas, with the help of his foreign girlfriend, left Kenya many years ago at the height of their music career.
