Friday, May 5, 2023 –I escaped by a whisker being part of the people who lost lives in Shakahola cult after some two men sweet-talked me to join the sect.
At first, I did not know that I was being taken to a cult church. On arrival, the reception was so good and everybody there looked cheerful.
When I reached the church, it was on a Saturday, afternoon, I was given some milk and honey to enjoy as assign of happy life in Heaven.
I was also allowed to take hot shower in the church offices and everything there was so good for anyone to doubt.
My first day was good same to the second and third day. But after the three days had elapsed, I was taken to the real church where fasting I was a must whether you like it or not.

I thought fasting was optional but at Shakahola, it is a must. No water even in the evening. And the moment I saw two people die, that is when I knew things were getting bad!
I asked one of the assistants in the church to help me with my phone for only five seconds, I pleaded with him by lying to him that I wanted to call my sisters and brothers to come and join in the prayers. The assistant was fooled and gave me my phone. “They like hearing anything to do with more recruits”.
