Friday, May 5, 2023 –Central Organisation of Trade Union COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli was today appointed board member at the National Labour Board.
Labour Cabinet Secretary Florence Bore, on Friday, May 5, made this confirmation official saying the unionist will serve under David K.A. Siele as the Chairperson alongside other members, including, Jacqueline Mugo, Michael Macharia, George Masese, Ernest Nadome, Rose Omamo, Daisy Wanja Njiru, and Areba Omwoyo Samba.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 6 (1) of the Labour Institution Act 2007, the Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Protection appoints those mentioned above,” read part of the statement.
Since Kenya Kwanza won the August 9 general election, COTU boss has been close to the regime saying he has a constituency to defend.
He recently distanced himself from the ongoing street protest and went ahead to urge workers all over the country to boycott Azimio’s demos.
And during the last Labour Day celebrations held at Uhuru Gardens, the vocal trade unionist thanked President William Ruto for honoring his invite.
“As Kenyan workers, we extend our sincere appreciation to the President of the Republic of Kenya H.E Dr. William Samoei Ruto for honoring our invitation to be the Chief Guest during this 58th Labour Day celebrations at Uhuru Gardens,” he stated.
