Wednesday, May 17, 2023 – Swarup Mishra, a former Kesses Member of Parliament, has formally joined the ruling United Democratic Alliance UDA Party.
Mishra, who lost in the last general election following his links with Jubilee Party, has today Wednesday May 17, moved to UDA whose party leader is President William Ruto.
Cleopas Malala, secretary general of the UDA Party, welcomed Mr. Mishra to the party’s Nairobi headquarters.
“Former Kesses Member of Parliament Swarup Mishra has officially joined President William Ruto-led United Democratic Alliance UDA” read a confirmation from UDA.
Dr. Mishra won the Kesses MP seat back in 2017 under Jubilee Party ticket; but in 2022 lost to Uasin Gishu County official Julius Ruto. Mishra was vying as an independent candidate.
A greenhorn in politics, the UDA candidate garnered over 30,000 votes against Dr Mishra’s slightly more than 20,000, according to then preliminary election results.
It would emerge that the Asian-Kenyan politician was now planning to withdraw all the scholarships he had awarded to locals in the area.
He would however, come out to refute the claims as mere social media propaganda meant to paint him in bad faith.
“Dear Kenyans, for the past one-week, social media has been awash with FAKE NEWS that I have withdrawn scholarship for 300 Students from Kesses constituency. I urge you all to disregard the rumours, FAKE NEWS and sophisticated disinformation campaigns being peddled across-board,” part of his statement read.
He went on to affirm that the program will continue by the ‘Great Grace of God’ and more admissions will also be conducted.
He is the founder at the multimillion Mediheal Group of Companies with branches spread all over the country.
