Friday, May 19, 2023 –Nominated Member of National Assembly MP Sabina Chege has assured their supporters that she will safeguard the interest of Jubilee Party after today’s expulsion of two key officials – Jeremiah Kioni and David Murathe.
In her acting party leadership position, the former Murang’a County Woman Representative noted that she is upto the task to run the party back to its glory days.
“Chama iko sawa na tunaichunga vizuri… Tuko sawa and maneno itakuwa sawa,” she asserted today.
She made the remarks on Friday May 19 during the funeral service of Dagoretti South MP John Kiarie’s father David Waweru at Kandara in Murang’a.
Among those present was head of State William Ruto who was among the key leaders who graced the ceremony.
She made the remarks moments after a National Executive Council NEC where the group led by acting secretary general Kanini Kega announced the dismissal of secretary general Jeremiah Kioni and vice chair David Murathe from the party.
Kagwe Gichohi, who was also facing disciplinary action, was suspended for a whopping two years.
Making the announcement, Mr. Kega said the planned NDC organised by retired president Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday will remain illegal.
“There will be no NDC on Monday. The party will advise members on the dates of the NDC after finalising this dispute.
“Kioni was found guilty of gross misconduct and lack of respect to party organs,” he said.
The Kega faction and another led by Kioni have, of late, been fighting for the soul of the former ruling party.
Sources link the fights to President William Ruto and his predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta both who have had interest in a party that took them to power in 2013 before they started fighting each other in 2018.
