Friday, May 19, 2023 – Dennis Mageto Ombichi, a rogue tout attached to Embassava SACCO was finally arrested today.
Following orders from Transport and Roads Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, the National Transport and Safety Authority NTSA officers, on Friday May 19, arrested the rogue conductor who allegedly threw a passenger out of a speeding PSV bus along Outering Road, Nairobi.
Following the incident, the 17-year-old boy would shortly succumb to injuries after crashing his ribs and head skull on the tarmac
“Following the unfortunate incident that led to the loss of the life of a passenger onboard a vehicle belonging to Embasava Sacco, the conductor who was at large has been apprehended by NTSA and handed over to the police,” CS Murkomen said in his Friday statement.
The accused, Mr. Ombichi, was booked vide O.B 12/19/05/2023 at Capital Hill Police Station for the offence of failing due care of passengers aboard a PSV Vehicle.
While mourning the late, CS Murkomen asked his family to remain strong as he ensures that justice is served through full force of law.
The incident occurred in Pipeline, Embakasi East Constituency, on Wednesday evening where those who volunteered to witness said the conductor pushed, with force, the teenager out of the moving bus, which simultaneously ran over him.
The deceased, accompanied by his brother at the time of the incident, is said to have fallen short of sh 20 bus fare.
A scuffle would ensue, after which, the conductor reportedly tossed him out of the bus, leading to his immediate death.
Passersby and onlookers rushed to the scene baying for the conductor’s blood but he managed to take off setting stage for police to launch a man hunt.
The bus, which had since been abandoned by both the driver and his conductor, was then set on fire by irate members of the public.
Commenting on the same, Embassava Sacco management said the victim was not pushed, he fell down by accident.
