Echesa Chairs First KWTA Board Meeting

Wednesday, June 21, 2023 – Newly-appointed chairperson for the Kenya Water Towers Agency KWTA Rashid Echesa has chaired his maiden meeting as the water towers boss in the country.

In his update of Tuesday June 20 afternoon, the former Sports cabinet secretary indicated that he chaired the KWTA inaugural board meeting meant to review last year’s activities and achievements.

“Pleased to chair the KWTA inaugural board meeting to review the performance of the Agency during the last quarter, March-April 2023,” he stated.

President William Ruto appointed the former CS as the new chairperson for the Kenya Water Towers Agency KWTA on May 19 this year.

This official appointment was necessitated through a government Gazette Notice dated May 18, 2023, when Echesa was elevated to serve as the chairman for a period of three years.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by Paragraph 6 (1) (a) of the Kenya Water Towers Agency Order, 2012, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint Rashid Echesa to be the Chairperson of the Kenya Water Towers Agency Board, for a period of three years, with effect from the 19th May 2023,” the notice read in part.

This status saw the head of State drop the appointment of L. Arch. Robert M. Kariuki who was the chairperson of the water towers board in the country.
